OSHKOSH, Wis. (December 16, 2019) – Recently, Oshkosh Corporation President and Chief Executive Officer, Wilson Jones, received the 2019 Technical Education Champion Award. Jones was nominated by Fox Valley Technical College (FVTC) for this award, which recognizes leaders who are committed to advancing technical education initiatives.

In 2018, Oshkosh developed the School to Work program, which gives high school juniors and seniors access to a technical education while completing their high school diploma. Currently, there are 16 students participating in the program. The first graduating class will complete the program in Spring 2020 and will graduate with high school diplomas, a Youth Apprenticeship certificate, FVTC credits and real work experience at Oshkosh.

For some students, like Myha Rivas Toste, the experience impacts them far beyond the work-related benefits. “We hear stories about how trucks save soldiers’ lives. When they start telling me what they do and who they bring the trucks to, it gives me a sense of pride.”

The company also supports the FVTC Foundation’s Promise scholarship, which provides free tuition and books to eligible incoming students. Oshkosh currently has over 50 interns from area technical colleges.
